Wanted to play around with the Kemp Loadmaster FREE edition so downloaded the Hyper-V edition, connected the .vhd to a newly created machine, booted the thing up, set the IP address, next, next, finish, read the message to do the rest of the config from https://ipaddressofthekemp, opened a browser, entered what was asked and ….

That is not what I expected. Thought I was doing something wrong so did a telnet 443 to the ip address I gave the Kemp and was successful so https is running. Rebuild the machine, let DHCP give it an IP address and got the same result. Kemp support forums wasn’t giving any hints on what to do, other documentation stated the same process (https://blogs.technet.microsoft.com/uclobby/2015/03/12/deploying-kemp-technologies-free-loadmaster-as-lab-load-balancerreverse-proxy/ and https://support.kemptechnologies.com/hc/en-us/articles/204427785-Free-LoadMaster) so this seemed strange.
For some reason I thought the thing might be needing a name to connect to so I created a DNS record, opened the webbrowser again and …

That’s it, clicked Continue, entered username and password and everything is working so the documentation I found on the internet is wrong.
